I can remember from the David Letterman Show when he was on NBC in the '80's, he would have this bit called something like "Books from the NBC library".

This one time he held up this book which showed the muppets with flames all around them with the title "All the Muppets Die and go to Hell".

I don't know why I remembered this but it was really funny at the time.

I have no real point to make and thus is why I posted this in the Rubber Room.

I remember when he would travel through nyc
and stop in all the stores that had a name like "bed king"
or "mattress king" and would interview the owner and ask
if he was the "king " and would ask if the guys wife was the
"queen".
When the bit was over Letterman would end the seqment saying
it was a long day and we are tired but its a good tired!!

Also used to like the "throwing things off a 5 story building" bit.

Letterman was so cutting edge at the time.

Other bits I remember from his NBC days......

Teri Garr taking a shower in his office bathroom shower.

He wore a suit of velcro and jumped onto a mini trampoline on to a wall and just stuck there. ------ pretty funny

He wore another suit of nothing but alka-seltzer and dipped himself in a pool of water.

The man under the stairs. Who was played by Chris Elliot. For those who don't remember, he would be the one under the stage seating area where all the audience sat.

The time Dave spray painted Bryant Gumbel's ankle. This pissed Bryant off and set off a feud between the two.

Hell, I remember when Paul actually had hair.

I remember when Pete Townsend used to be a rock god, now he's a dirty old child porn collector.

Not true. He was cleared of the charges.

Although his explanation had to do with something like doing research on this subject since he himself was mollested once, or something like that. Never got the full details other than his case faded away like most stories in yesterday's newspaper.

But I'm sure more came out in his court procedings than what we know. Either he had a good explanation or he was guilty as hell and slipped through the cracks.

But you're right, he was a Rock God. But like every musician, he got old too.
